Be an Excellent Pilot of your Personal Brand

If you want to fly an aeroplane; what do you think what should be your approach? Well, we all know first we need to understand the operating mechanisms of an aeroplane? In addition, you need to learn complete details of all the essential key parameters of flying and controlling an aeroplane, you have to understand safety, weather condition, take-off and landing, speed, etc. In short, you need to go through tremendous training on how to fly and become an expert pilot, right…

Think of your body like an aeroplane and you are the pilot. Here your mind & heart are intelligence & emotional mechanism of your body, which guides and helps you to fly your aeroplane. If you do not have control over your mind, heart, and body, you will not be able to reach your destination and achieve your goals. To get complete control of your mind, heart and body you have to understand and learn about your aeroplane completely.

Three step process to become an excellent pilot of your personal brand.

    • Listen to your body, mind, and heart and then talk to yourself (to understand your aeroplane well)
    • Build your BRAND inside first (learn to become an excellent pilot and get the license)
  • Achieve your goal (fly your aeroplane to your destination)

Listen to your body, mind, and heart – Talk to yourself

Assume that you are invited to the party where there are so many friends and family members are present. One by one you greet them by saying are you? How things are going? How is your health? How was your weekend? What’s your plan for tomorrow? And many more such questions… right? We always ask these questions to others but unfortunately, we forget to ask such questions to ourselves.

Now, take a break and ask all of these questions to yourself and try to get the answers. These answers are the reflection of your persona. This will help you to understand yourself better. This will possible through self-talk only. Create your own question bank and get these answer from yourself. This will help you to understand who you are? What do you want to do in this life? What is your way of happiness? What is your way of being healthy? What is your purpose in life? Your goals? And many more such questions. I am sure you will not get answers to these questions from anybody else.

Knowing self is the first step towards knowing your Brand.

Build your Brand inside first

Once you have understood yourself by getting answers through various questions that you have asked to yourself; you can be in a better place to understand your value system, your areas of proficiency and your goals in life.

A brand will be built on your consistent actions, and your actions depend on your thoughts. It means your brand needs to be created first in your thoughts. You have to live your life first through your thoughts and dreams.

The purpose of building your brand is to achieve the ultimate goal of life. Some best example of such personal brands is Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, etc. Here, you can see they are fully aligned internally between their thoughts & action and they have achieved the best in life. Many brands do not sustain longer just because there is a difference between internal brand building and external actions.

Now achieve your Goal

As you have become an expert pilot of your own plane, you need to have fuel to fly to your destination. This means you need to have a passion to achieve your goals.

Let me give you an example of Sachin Tendulkar. He is a master of his skills (playing cricket) and he has a passion to score as much run as possible and win the matches for his team. Many a time he failed and got out in a low score, sometimes he was so quick to win. In the end, he has built his super brand through his actions. His aim was not to have Bharat Ratna (highest civilian award of the Republic of India), but he has been rewarded for his super actions.

Very Important Message (VIM): Your actions should be more important, reward & recognition should not be your goal, it’s a by-product of your deeds…

Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish,
but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.
